SET celebrates 50 years of innovation and success

Saint-Jeoire, September 1, 2025 — This year marks a historic turning point for SET, which proudly celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. Since its creation in 1975, it has established itself as a key player in the field of semiconductors, combining innovation, performance and sustainable commitment.

“Celebrating 50 years of existence is above all a tribute to all those who have contributed to our history: our employees, our clients, our partners. Together, we have built a strong and forward-looking company,” said Pascal Metzger, CEO of SET.

Half a century of commitment and excellence

Positioned in a niche market, SET designs and manufactures Flip-Chip Bonders: very high precision machines used to assemble microelectronic components together.

From the smartphone manufacturer to the research laboratory, it has prestigious clients, including Google and the CEA (Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission) in Grenoble.

A company like no other

In 2012, threatened with takeover by a foreign group, SET became a Scop (Cooperative and participative society). A saving and successful transformation, carried out thanks to the support of Urscop (Regional Union of Scops).

Since then, it has belonged to its employees, more precisely those who have chosen to become partners, which is about 75% of the workforce. « As a Scop, we place people at the heart of our operations, with in particular a board of directors made up of elected partners, commissions on different themes such as well-being, work… Not to mention a very strong team spirit!», says Pascal Metzger.
